Tourism development and promotion
Tourism promotion is organisations that target inbound and domestic tourism through services usually involving websites. There are websites which display various activities that are available in their particular area and do their best to make these activities as appealing as possible. This is funded by the public sector so most organisations being promoted are free. This aims to educate the tourists, both inbound and domestic, and their promotion to these areas increase the number of tourists there so therefore increase the amount of jobs available for local workers looking for jobs. It has a positive effect on the GDP as it is raising the jobs available and raising the amount of TAX paid if there are more jobs. Although it is the public sector so is funded by the Government; private organisations would pay them to promote their companies and services which makes profit for them to do a better job at their promotions and develop the activities available so they are to their best for the tourists. Promotion also keeps money in the UK as if it is attracting domestic tourism the tourists are spending their money within their own country and not spending it in other places abroad. This promotion can be done at a local scale e.g. 'Visit Bolton' and also to a national scale 'Visit Britain'.
