Heritage:
Places built for reasons such as Stately Homes or Castles were originally for one use but may now attract tourists to admire their history and beauty. These places are often not very practical for the amount of visitors they get however people appreciate the buildings and their state of building as they are often more attractive because they were built for someone to appreciate and not built with practicality in mind. Places such as Balmoral Castle in Scotland may attract tourists. This particular castle cannot offer tours around the whole of the castle as Her Majesty The Queen still regularly visits the castle and is therefore her private rooms. However there is still accommodation available along with access to the grounds and tours to the castles largest room; the ballroom.

Events:
Many places create highly popular events that attract people into a certain area and bring in a high amount of profit. Glastonbury festival is an example of an event that brings in a high amount of domestic tourists. It promotes short holidays usually non-serviced as most people take their own tent to stay in for the duration. However larger known events such as the London Olympics 2012 attract domestic and inbound tourists as it is such a big event. This usually promotes serviced accommodation which is good for the country as they will get a larger profit from different transport and accommodation fees from the tourists.
